Project: Induction orb
Short brief: The American kitchen has always had a complicated relationship with induction cooking. Despite its efficiency and precision, the absence of visible flame has been a persistent barrier to emotional adoption — cooking, for many Americans, is inseparable from the primal ritual of fire.
Orb was conceived to bridge that gap. The challenge: design a flame experience for an induction hob that feels natural, alive, and emotionally resonant — without any actual combustion.
The concept draws from Zero-G Fire Pulses — a framework inspired by the fluid, unpredictable behaviour of fire in weightless environments, where flame loses its conventional teardrop shape and becomes a breathing, pulsing sphere of light and heat. Translated into the product experience, this became the foundation for a visual and haptic language that mimics the organic rhythm of real fire: the flicker, the glow, the subtle unpredictability that makes fire feel alive.
The result is a hob interface that doesn't simulate fire — it evokes it. Through dynamic light modulation, thermal feedback cues, and a UI built around pulse rhythms rather than static controls, Orb gives the American user something they didn't know induction could offer:
the feeling of cooking with fire.
